In September 2017, three U.S. institutions, Iowa State University, the University of North Texas, and Oklahoma State University hosted six faculty members from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), India as a part of an on-going grant sponsored by the U.S. India Education Foundation (USIEF). Danielle organized cultural experiences, classroom visits, presentations, and meetings with faculty and administrators for the two NIFT faculty members visiting Iowa State University. Additionally, Danielle took the visiting scholars around campus and the city of Des Moines, Iowa to experience American university life and the Iowa capital. Danielle also helped organize the visits to the other two institutions by providing travel options and suggestions for itineraries.
While visiting scholars were in the United States, a compact course was delivered to graduate students regarding culture and small business entrepreneurship. The course was co-taught by faculty across the four institutions. Students were taught differences between small businesses in India and the United States and provided a tool kit for small business development. Students than worked with small businesses in the community to make suggested improvements based on the provided tool kit.
